JUNE PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,952 original drilling permits in June 2011 compared to 1,535 in June 2010. The June total included 1,784 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 28 to re-enter existing well bores, and 140 for re-completions. Permits issued in June 2011 included 536 oil, 228 gas, 1,107 oil and gas, 63 injection, zero service and 18 other permits.
MAY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary May 2011 crude oil production averaged 972,629 barrels daily, up from the 929,347 barrels daily average of May 2010.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for May 2011 is 30,151,505 barrels, up from 28,809,744 barrels reported during May 2010.
JUNE OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In June 2011, operators reported 365 oil, 166 gas, 57 injection and zero other completions compared to 505 oil, 353 gas, 19 injection and one other completion during June 2010.
Total well completions for 2011 year to date are 4,163 down from 5,311 recorded during the same period in 2010.
Operators reported 342 holes plugged and zero dry holes in June 2011 compared to 582 holes plugged and two dry holes in June 2010.
MAY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 555,862,354 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for May 2011 down from the May 2010 preliminary gas production total of 596,828,521 Mcf.
Texas production in May 2011 came from 143,508 oil wells and 92,853 gas wells.
