APRIL PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 2,011 original drilling permits in April 2011 compared to 1,561 in April 2010. The April total included 1,755 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 65 to re-enter existing well bores, and 191 for re-completions. Permits issued in April 2011 included 580 oil, 221 gas, 1,115 oil and gas, 74 injection, three service and 18 other permits.
MARCH CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary March 2011 crude oil production averaged 969,007 barrels daily, up from the 927,890 barrels daily average of March 2010.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for March 2011 is 30,039,224 barrels, up from 28,764,579 barrels reported during March 2010.
APRIL OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In April 2011, operators reported 597 oil, 265 gas, 23 injection and zero other completions compared to 573 oil, 319 gas, 37 injection and one other completion during April 2010.
Total well completions for 2011 year to date are 3,033 down from 3,539 recorded during the same period in 2010.
Operators reported 325 holes plugged and zero dry holes in April 2011 compared to 378 holes plugged and zero dry holes in April 2010.
MARCH NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 564,450,477 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for March 2011 down from the March 2010 preliminary gas production total of 586,652,507 Mcf.
Texas production in March 2011 came from 144,924 oil wells and 92,305 gas wells.
