Railroad Commission Calls EPA and Range Resources for Hearing

12/08/2010

Austin, TX ––Today Railroad Commission staff has set for hearing the complaint publicized yesterday by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding residential water wells in Parker County.

The Commission's General Counsel Lindil Fowler said, "Because this matter has now been set for hearing, and the Commission will sit in judgment of the facts, the Commissioners cannot comment on the case. However, RRC staff expects both parties, the EPA as well as Range Resources representatives, to appear before Hearings Examiners and testify as to the allegations made yesterday."

In the administrative law process at the Commission, staff examiners conduct hearings and then issue a Proposal for Decision (PFD), which is decided by the three statewide elected Commissioners as a final action.

The hearing date will be Jan. 10, 2011.
