TEXAS MONTHLY OIL AND GAS STATISTICS

AUGUST PERMITS TO DRILL

The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 2,440 original drilling permits in August 2014 compared to 1,606 in August 2013. The August total included 2,209 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 37 to re-enter existing well bores, and 194 for re-completions. Permits issued in August 2014 included 705 oil, 136 gas, 1,485 oil and gas, 103 injection, two service and nine other permits.

JULY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION

Texas preliminary July 2014 crude oil production averaged 2,244,291 barrels daily, up from the 1,685,786 barrels daily average of July 2013.

The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for July 2014 is 69,573,013 barrels, up from 52,259,355 barrels reported during July 2013.

AUGUST OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS

In August 2014, operators reported 2,157 oil, 303 gas, 92 injection and four other completions compared to 1,576 oil, 500 gas, 18 injection and three other completions in August 2013.

Total well completions for 2014 year to date are 20,657 up from 17,221 recorded during the same period in 2013.

Operators reported 342 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2014 compared to 120 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2013.

JULY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION

Texas oil and gas wells produced 632,494,096 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for July 2014 up from the July 2013 preliminary gas production total of 571,285,336 Mcf. Texas preliminary July total gas production averaged 20,403,035 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.

Texas production in July 2014 came from 166,437 oil wells and 93,308 gas wells.
