AUGUST PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,615 original drilling permits in August 2010 compared to 1,043 in August 2009. The August total included 1,390 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 46 to re-enter existing well bores, and 179 for re-completions. Permits issued in August 2010 included 429 oil, 262 gas, 873 oil and gas, 39 injection, zero service and 12 other permits.
JULY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary July 2010 crude oil production averaged 925,456 barrels daily, up from the 880,407 barrels daily average of July 2009.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for July 2010 is 28,689,135 barrels, up from 27,292,609 barrels reported during July 2009.
AUGUST OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In August 2010, operators reported 402 oil, 314 gas, 58 injection and one other completion compared to 465 oil, 566 gas,
26 injection and one other completion during August 2009.
Total well completions for 2010 year to date are 7,066 down from 11,618 recorded during the same period in 2009.
Operators reported 556 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2010 compared to 340 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2009.
JULY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 577,492,594 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for July 2010, up from the July 2009 preliminary gas production total of 576,324,532
Texas production in July 2010 came from 144,318 oil wells and 92,053 gas wells.
