Midland Railroad Commission Employee Recognized as the 2014 Statewide Outstanding Women in State Government Community Involvement Recipient

AUSTIN —Midland Railroad Commission employee Lucy Molina was recognized this week as the recipient for the 2014 Outstanding Community Involvement category in the biennial Statewide Outstanding Women in State Government awards luncheon held in Austin Wednesday.

Molina—who works as Team Lead for administrative personnel in the Railroad Commission’s Midland Oil and Gas Division District Office—was recognized for her significant volunteer contributions to her community and local organizations. Her efforts have included offering shelter to homeless, pregnant teenagers; volunteering at a local nursing home where she provides manicures and pedicures to residents; coaching developmentally disabled adults for Special Olympics; leading a local youth church group to raise money for holiday meals for low-income residents; and participating in the “Keep Midland Beautiful,” initiative.

 “As someone who grew up in Midland, I congratulate Ms. Molina for exemplifying the outstanding spirit of generosity found in West Texas,” Chairman Christi Craddick said.

Commissioner David Porter, also a former Midland resident, said, “Ms. Molina provides an amazing example of the impact one person can have in their community outside of their day job.”

Commissioner Barry Smitherman said, “I am extremely proud of Ms. Molina, who has worked at the Railroad Commission since 2011, and congratulate her on this well-deserved award.”
