JUNE PERMITS TO DRILL
The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 2,185 original drilling permits in June 2014 compared to 1,876 in June 2013. The June total included 2,009 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 43 to re-enter existing well bores, and 133 for re-completions. Permits issued in June 2014 included 639 oil, 94 gas, 1,345 oil and gas, 85 injection, zero service and 22 other permits.
MAY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary May 2014 crude oil production averaged 2,136,638 barrels daily, up from the 1,684,572 barrels daily average of May 2013.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for May 2014 is 66,235,787 barrels, up from 52,221,747 barrels reported during May 2013.
JUNE OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In June 2014, operators reported 1,739 oil, 316 gas, 36 injection and eight other completions compared to 1,826 oil, 405 gas, 66 injection and six other completions in June 2013.
Total well completions for 2014 year to date are 15,828 up from 12,740 recorded during the same period in 2013.
Operators reported 52 holes plugged and zero dry holes in June 2014 compared to 41 holes plugged and zero dry holes in June 2013.
MAY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 617,988,757 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for May 2014 up from the May 2013 preliminary gas production total of 557,899,127 Mcf. Texas preliminary May total gas production averaged 19,935,121 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in May 2014 came from 165,220 oil wells and 92,842 gas wells.
