TEXAS MONTHLY OIL AND GAS STATISTICS
MAY PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,485 original drilling permits in May 2010 compared to 771 in May 2009. The May total included 1,294 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 26 to re-enter existing well bores, and 165 for re-completions. Permits issued in May 2010 included 360 oil, 284 gas, 782 oil and gas, 26 injection, zero service and 33 other permits.
APRIL CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary April 2010 crude oil production averaged 932,966 barrels daily, up from the 918,978 barrels daily average of April 2009.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for April 2010 is 27,988,991 barrels, up from 27,569,341 barrels reported during April 2009.
MAY OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In May 2010, operators reported 461 oil, 386 gas, 47 injection and zero other completions compared to 442 oil, 753 gas, 23 injection and seven other completions during May 2009.
Total well completions for 2010 year to date are 4,433 down from 7,958 recorded during the same period in 2009.
Operators reported 285 holes plugged and one dry hole in May 2010 compared to 489 holes plugged and one hole in May 2009.
APRIL NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 563,851,518 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for April 2010, up from the April 2009 preliminary gas production total of 558,055,129 Mcf.
Texas production in April 2010 came from 145,663 oil and 94,275 gas wells.
