APRIL PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,561 original drilling permits in April 2010 compared to 858 in April 2009. The April total included 1,374 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 43 to re-enter existing well bores, and 144 for re-completions. Permits issued in April 2010 included 357 oil, 284 gas, 856 oil and gas, 43 injection, one service and 20 other permits.
MARCH CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary March 2010 crude oil production averaged 927,890 barrels daily, up from the 911,003 barrels daily average of March 2009.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for March 2010 is 28,764,579 barrels, up from 28,241,084 barrels reported during March 2009.
APRIL OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In April 2010, operators reported 573 oil, 319 gas, 37 injection and one other completion compared to 535 oil, 927 gas, 26 injection and three other completions during April 2009.
Total well completions for 2010 year to date are 3,539 down from 6,740 recorded during the same period in 2009.
Operators reported 378 holes plugged and zero dry holes in April 2010 compared to 511 holes plugged and three dry holes in April 2009.
MARCH NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 586,652,507 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for March 2010, up from the March 2009 preliminary gas production total of 567,000,356 Mcf.
Texas production in March 2010 came from 142,802 oil and 92,212 gas wells.
