MARCH PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,739 original drilling permits in March 2010 compared to 1,033 in March 2009. The March total included 1,432 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 111 to re-enter existing well bores, and 196 for re-completions. Permits issued in March 2010 included 407 oil, 310 gas, 902 oil and gas, 105 injection, zero service and 15 other permits.
FEBRUARY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary February 2010 crude oil production averaged 919,196 barrels daily, up from the 910,769 barrels daily average of February 2009.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for February 2010 is 25,737,494 barrels, up from 25,501,527 barrels reported during February 2009.
MARCH OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In March 2010, operators reported 523 oil, 369 gas, 50 injection and four other completions compared to 683 oil, 1,176 gas, 203 injection and six other completions during March 2009.
Total well completions for 2010 year to date are 2610 down from 5,252 recorded during the same period in 2009.
Operators reported 467 holes plugged and one dry hole in March 2010 compared to 395 holes plugged and one dry hole in March 2009.
FEBRUARY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 525,380,023 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for February 2010, up from the February 2009 preliminary gas production total of 510,536,175 Mcf.
Texas production in February 2010 came from 142,556 oil and 92,215 gas wells.
