OCTOBER PERMITS TO DRILL
The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 3,046 original drilling permits in October 2014 compared to 1,735 in October 2013. The October total included 2,741 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 40 to re-enter existing well bores, and 265 for re-completions. Permits issued in October 2014 included 885 oil, 181 gas, 1,829 oil and gas, 115 injection, two service and 34 other permits.
SEPTEMBER CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary September 2014 crude oil production averaged 2,194,148 barrels daily, up from the 1,796,784 barrels daily average of September 2013.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for September 2014 is 65,824,450 barrels, up from 53,903,512 barrels reported during September 2013.
OCTOBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In October 2014, operators reported 2,035 oil, 354 gas, 63 injection and three other completions compared to 1,758 oil, 493 gas, 64 injection and three other completions in October 2013.
Total well completions for 2014 year to date are 25,604 up from 21,432 recorded during the same period in 2013.
Operators reported 629 holes plugged and zero dry holes in October 2014 compared to 408 holes plugged and zero dry holes in October 2013.
SEPTEMBER NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 595,603,581 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for September 2014 up from the September 2013 preliminary gas production total of 577,607,649 Mcf. Texas preliminary September total gas production averaged 19,853,453 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in September 2014 came from 150,497 oil wells and 88,551 gas wells.
