DPS to add 4,000 cameras along border with surge money

Installations will stretch from El Paso to Brownsville

AUSTIN — The Texas Department of Public Safety is preparing to add 4,000 surveillance cameras along the Mexico border as part of the next phase of an ongoing law enforcement surge on the border.

The office has been in existence for the Air Force since the 1960s.
