Texas Gov. Rick Perry, in Washington today, told reporters that he's recovered from the back pain that seemed to hurt him in the 2012 presidential campaign.
The cure? No running. No boots. Yup. Perry has definitely given up those cowboy boots.
"I'm healthy," Perry told a luncheon sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. First off, "I quit running," he said, replacing his running with a regimen of exercises, including sit-ups, pull-ups, crunches, a stationary bike and even planking - a killer exercise for abs.
Second, he said, "I stopped wearing cowboy boots." Perry held his hand horizontally and demonstrated the difference between horizontal and an inclined angle. Showing the flat, horizontal line, he said, "This is better."
"It was a very successful surgery," he said. "Not to say I don't get a pain in the backside from time to time."
