#WalmartStrikers stage in-store sit-down strike, demand $15 an hour wage

We’re a couple of weeks from Black Friday, but a group organized by BlackFridayProtests.org has gotten a head start on disrupting business at Walmart by staging a sit-down strike Thursday at a Los Angeles-area store. Among the group’s demands are a $15 an hour minimum wage and more full-time positions for employees — and, according to a cartoon on its website, treatment of employees as human beings.

Protesters occupying the Crenshaw, Calif., Walmart wore green duct tape over their mouths reading “Strike,” which they removed when they walked out to chant, “Walmart, which side are you on?” and “Whose Walmart? Our Walmart!”

Those who didn’t attend the sit-down strike were encouraged to send messages of support.

Sandra Fluke sent her message of solidarity as well.
