Warrens honored at ribbon-cutting, classroom-naming celebration at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M University’s department of agricultural leadership, education, and communications has named a classroom in the Agriculture and Life Sciences Building in honor of donors Ty and Ebony “Kesha” Warren. A ribbon cutting for the occasion was held Nov. 7.

“The Ty ’03 and Ebony Warren Model Classroom will provide a vehicle to train our students such that they can make the world a better place,” said Dr. William Dugas, acting vice chancellor and dean for agriculture and life sciences. “It fits perfectly with our grand challenge, ‘Enriching Our Youth.’ ”

The Warrens established the Ty ’03 and Ebony Warren Agricultural Leadership Development Excellence Endowment to support priority projects and functions of the department. They also provided the initial funding to create the Public Leadership Development program. Ty Warren serves as a member of the department’s external development board.

Warren, a former Texas A&M football player and first-round draft pick, is a native of Bryan. After playing in the NFL for 10 years, Warren returned to College Station to finish his degree in agricultural leadership and development, with an emphasis on animal science and agriculture business. He graduated in May 2011.

“Obviously, I love this university,” Warren said. “And I love agriculture. Mine and my wife’s families have always had ties to agriculture in some form or fashion.”

Warren credits agriculture with bringing his family together on a daily basis.

“Agriculture is something my entire family can be a part of,” he said.

The Warrens own Outback Ranch, LLC, a cow-calf operation located south of College Station. They are first-generation breeders of registered Simmental, Main Anjou, Charolaise and Club calf herd. They are also owners of the Tuple County Property Management, LLC and other commercial and real estate investments in the Bryan-College Station area.

“Through their support of our department, devotion to their family, philanthropic community work, and successful business ventures in agriculture and real estate,” Dugas said, “Ty and Kesha are the embodiment of the true core values of being an Aggie: excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect and selfless service.”
