The new trailer for "A Most Violent Year" is full of arresting images, perhaps none more so than Jessica Chastain wrestling a loaded gun from her young daughter, who has no idea how dangerous it is.
The moment conveys the plight of Abel and Anna Morales (Oscar Isaac, Chastain) in "A Most Violent Year." Abel, an immigrant, is trying to flourish economically and provide for his family. But he finds himself pulled into the city's rampant crime wave. Set in one of the city's most statistically dangerous years (1981), Abel and Anna find their domestic life jeopardized.
Most recently, the film has drawn buzz thanks to Chastain's "Interstellar" PR debacle, but with a 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and The Wrap calling it "Sidney Lumet meets modern big-budget action thriller," the film shows a lot of promise.
It hits theaters December 31. Here is the trailer:
