Berkeley Students Protest Bill Maher for “Racist” Comments Against Islam, Start Petition to Ban Him

The Left is not tolerant of speech that goes against their most sacred doctrines. One of which, of course, is that Islam stands above other religions in its right to never be criticized. When one turns against this, particularly one of their ilk, the backlash is fast and intense.

Bill Maher, famous for his show on HBO, has said a number of controversial things over his years on the air. For years, he has been cheered on by liberals when he spewed vitriolic garbage against conservative women. But he stumbled onto the truth a few months ago, arguing that, indeed, Islamic extremism is a problem that needs to be confronted. The cheering from the Left has stopped.

Now, to punish Maher for pointing out the truth, students at UC Berkeley are looking to ban him from the campus and to prevent him from making a speech there. They have started a petition, which now has over 1,500 signatures.

The petition, called, “Stop Bill Maher from speaking at UC Berkeley’s December graduation,” makes a number of accusations about Maher, specifically slamming him for his statements against radical Islam.

In the first paragraph, the petition’s writer, Khwaja Ahmed, writes, “Bill Maher is a blatant bigot and racist who has no respect for the values UC Berkeley students and administration stand for. In a time where climate is a priority for all on campus, we cannot invite an individual who himself perpetuates a dangerous learning environment.”

Students, such as Sarah Mohamed, commented on the petition, writing, “As a Berkeley graduate and a former leader of the Muslim community on the campus, I cannot imagine anything more offensive to my own community than to have someone who has made statements that are as offensive as his to be on the stage at a commencement ceremony. While freedom of speech is a cornerstone of Cal values, bigotry and racism are not, and have never been.”

Taqwa Elhindi wrote, “As a recent graduate from UC Berkeley, I have always been proud of my university. However, the decision to bring Bill Maher as a speaker is offensive to me and my community of Muslims and Arabs. Free speech should always be protected, however when you use this speech to spread harmful stereotypes, you should not be honored for your speech. He has dehumanized Muslims numerously.”

And Sahar Pirzada wrote, “I cannot let my alma mater stoop so low as to invite an Islamophobic speaker to the Dec commencement.”

To those Berkeley students who signed an anti-free speech petition, that should earn an automatic F…. as in “F U.”

Good! Liberals protesting liberals. Get back to the Vietnam Era where the liberals were protesting the liberal Johnson administration. We need liberals protesting the Obama administration now! Can’t you liberals see all of the corruption your political brothers and sisters are committing in the federal government? Get into action. Where is your integrity or are you all just as corrupt as them?

HAHAHAHAHA The shoe is on the other foot and Mr. Maher is getting a vicious taste of what we Conservatives have had to endure when daring to speak out against the ridiculous and destructive beliefs and ideologies of the Left and their crusade against America, Christianity, and traditional values.
