About the City Budget
How does the City of Southlake spend tax payer money? It's a simple question with a complex answer. What follows is the high-level explanation of the City of Southlake's budget process.

Budget Process
Financial Plan
Each year, the City Manager and her staff put together a financial plan. When approved by City Council, the plan is designed to see the city through each fiscal year, October 1 through September 30.

Presentation & Discussion
When filed with the City Secretary's Office on August 15, the budget presents in summary form the revenues and expenditures from each of the city's funds. It is then discussed during council work sessions and then formally presented by staff during public hearings during regularly scheduled City Council meetings.
