FM1938

Project Information
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be making improvements to FM1938.  The FM1938 improvement is an important project for the City of Southlake and northeast Tarrant County.  It is regionally significant because it will provide an additional north-south thoroughfare between SH360 and US377.

Improvements begin at SH114 and extend south to Southlake Blvd. (FM1709) in Southlake.  Phase I construction is in Westlake.  The limits of Phase I in Westlake is from SH114 to the "Randol Mill Bend." Phase II of the project begins at the "Randol Mill Bend" and extend to Southlake Blvd and will include improvements to the entire intersection, including left turns in all directions.

The new roadway will be a variable-width, divided thoroughfare with a center median.  The roadway will consist of 6 travel lanes from SH 114 to Dove Rd. and 4 lanes from Dove Rd. to FM 1709. The pavement will be concrete with curb and gutter including an enclosed storm drain system and turn lanes at intersections.

Phase II of the project also includes:
  • Construction of an 8-foot trail along the east side of Randol Mill Bend to FM1709 and 5' sidewalks along the west side of Randol Mill
  • Construction of drainage structures needed to alleviate flooding issues. More information on this companion project is available in FM1938 Drainage Relief for Phase II.
  • Median landscaping and hardscape is detailed in the Urban Design Study

Phase II project components completed:
  • Installation of a 12-inch water line along the east side of Randol Mill Ave. from the Randol Mill Bend to FM1709.
  • Installation of a 30-inch water main along Randol Mill Ave. from Florence Rd. to the Randol Mill Bend referred to as theT. W. King water line Segment B.
