About the Police Department
The Southlake Police Department is committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Southlake. Under the leadership of Police Chief Stephen Mylett, police officers and civilian staff work to keep citizens safe and provide safety and educational programs to the public. The department has more than 70 employees. The agency has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) since 2000.
 
History
Incorporated in 1956, the City of Southlake has deep roots, dating back to the mid-1800s. The first settlers arrived in 1845 in what is now known as Southlake. The first Chief of Police for the City of Southlake was hired in 1966, and the City purchased its first patrol car in 1967.

The Southlake Police Department operates under the umbrella of the Department of Public Safety. Our current Police Chief is Stephen Mylett who has been with the department since fall of 2011.

The City of Southlake continues to grow and thrive with more than 26,500 residents.  The police department also continues to grow to meet the needs of its citizens and visitors to Southlake.  The Police Department currently employees 73 sworn and civilian employees including; a police chief, assistant police chief, three Lieutenants nine sergeants, six corporals and numerous support staff.
