Bill O’Reilly Attempts to Belittle the Positive Impact of Copblocking

Published On July 22, 2014 | By Pete Eyre | Videos

On July 21st, 2014, Cop Block – the decentralized project – was mentioned on the O’Reilly Factor.

It is interesting what Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly choose to say, and what they choose to omit, or infer.

Check it out. And think for yourself.

“Spying” implies a secretive act. Filming the police creates an objective record, something that should be supported by those who value truth – police and non-police alike.

Controversial to those who fear transparency.

This clip is taken from a segment that aired July 16, 2014 on Dallas-Ft. Worth KXAS NBC5.

From CopBlock.org/About: We do not “hate cops.” We believe  that no one – not even those with badges – has extra rights. The failure to realize and act on that is to our detriment. By focusing the disinfecting light of transparency on public officials we safeguard not just our rights but those of future generations.

Is the priority of police employees their own safety or the safety of those they claim to protect? Dale Brown of Detroit’s Threat Management Center has some on-point remarks to that question.

“Enough stress on police”?  If police employes find their chosen gig too stressful, they’re always free to leave and find something productive to do.

“Clowns” “Paul Bunyan”? Using ad hominem attacks  distract from the real conversation – the double standards claimed and acted upon by individuals based on their place of employment.

If you choose to travel on two wheels, connect with Bikers Against Discrimination to know your rights. Also, see: CopBlock.org/KnowYourRights

Police are trained to escalate their use of force to gain compliance. Police watchers, on the other hand, are encouraged to remain calm, cool and collected.

Those “idiots” are people whom police claim to “serve” Is it surprising that some may have animosity toward police employees, who hassle, ransom or cage them for engaging in actions that cause no victim?

Are you a police employee? CopBlock.org/WelcomeLEOs

This statement by Ms. Kelly makes clear why so many have coalesced around the ideas of Copblocking

Police, despite well-meaning intentions, work for an outfit that’s based on double-standards – the claimed “right” to steal from others in the community, to then protect them. They have no incentive to satisfy their “customers” and courts say that they have no duty to protect you.

The content is titled “When Should You Shoot A Cop” – a big difference. If you own yourself, and have the right to defend yourself against an aggressor, it matters not what attire that aggressor wears, or where they work.

Ademo isn’t alone – millions have been wronged by those in the injustice system, and throughout history, by individuals who parrot “I’m just doing my job”

“Got caught”? Is Mr. O’Reilly so authoritarian that he believes individuals engaging in consensual interactions that harm no one else should be caged? What about the person who sold him his suit? Or his car?

Video recording anyone in public is “legal” but some self- proclaimed rulers may threaten or levy “wiretapping” charges in an attempt to deter the practice. See: CopBlock.org/FilmThePolice

Legislation does not equal law. Be careful not to conflate the former with the latter as it bestows upon the writers of legalese the arbitrary authority they seek.

If the police and their friends in legaland are left to define “interfere” or “harass” might they be inclined to kidnap and cage people, and levy baseless threats?

______________

Much love to everyone working to share truth, and to shine the disinfecting light of transparency on those who act in the wrong.

You are the network, and together, we’re shifting away from a reality that positions some as rulers and others as ruled, and instead, maximizes individual freedom and personal responsibility.

What postive impact? If that’s what you people think, then it’s time to wake up and come back to reality.

  • Tyler

You’ve clearly never had problems with the law. Video documentation is an incredible valuable tool when defending yourself in a court of law.

  • Eddy M

bill orally (thanks spell check) is either ignorant or he supports police being able to get away with crimes, like murder, perjury, assault etc. but then again, bill is just a typical catholic boy from long island new york aka naive believer and spewer of all propaganda

  • dagobarbz

I promise, if I ever see a police officer knocking Bill O’rly around, I will lose the footage. Yes, I saw him try to assault that officer. Yes I did.

  • pgeller

The entire political system is corrupt. Doesn’t matter which side. These are the ‘masters’ that are in charge of legislature and the judicial system. Is it any wonder the uniformed gangs protect their masters and that the masters protect their gangs?

  • Auntie Tea

Bill and Kelly blew it this time.

  • Anthony Vetas

that bigot could only have an audience in Israel and the USA…. What Fox and the rest of them have done to that great idea of a country!

  • ekinn3

So, for those of you who haven’t been keeping score this week; Bill Maher: against the Police State. Bill O’Reilly: in favor of it.

  • Billy Wilson

If the cops aren’t doing anything wrong, why should they mind being filmed? Shouldn’t they be encouraging it to show that they did, in fact, do their job without abusing their powers?

  • Kristen Schaffer

    THIS fucking guy. hahahaha

  • Rework Oh Ryan

Blind allegiance. That’s all O’Reilly is good at. I expected a more neutral position from Megan, but she just lost my respect.

  • Tracy Miller

I’m a conservative libertarian. One reason I would never be a Republican is because while they claim to be against government, they worship the government SPEAR – i.e. the police and military. These Fox clowns like O’Reilly, Hannity, etc. masturbate furiously over authoritarian drones in costumes…oops I meant “uniforms”.

  • Joseph Kendall

His tune will change if he ever gets his teeth kicked in by a jackboot.

  • David

Cops are the biggest threat to our freedom and liberties. They only attack the poor, working class and who they perceive as the unentitled. They are the biggest threat to your family. Disband the police and fill their prisons with them and the wealthy they protect.
I am so grateful cop block exists. Keep up the good work!!

  • john

So let me get this strait. 1) our government can spy in every country in the world, spy on its on citizens, ie drones, cameras at every stop light. The patriot act, the TSA laws shake down US citizens all in the name of national security. And Bill you don’t make a peep. But you have an issue with a person filming a public official. What’s wrong with this country.

  • jared

Same here brother. I use to identify as conservative but so much cop sucking and I realized libertarian was the way. I see it all the time hard right conservatives show so much disdain for the government but when it comes to cops they go ” they’re the good guys, show some respect!” It’s like some dude in Germany going “FUCK Hitler!……those gestapo though…they’re not so bad.”

  • Carmen

I’m a liberal AND supporter of CopBlock. People shouldn’t rush to judgement.

  • Tracy Miller

    Well said Bro.

  • TheMick

When the cops put up cameras they say, “If you’re not doing anything wrong you shouldn’t be worried”. Why doesn’t the same philosophy apply to them? It’s so easy to take this argument apart, that I almost feel bad for O’Reilly and the cops for doing it. Almost.

  • TheMick

I get the strange feeling that you are probably a cop.

  • Malcolm Reynolds

Megyn Kelly is a vacant nitwit, and so is O’Reilly, or O’LIEly as some like to call him. Pro government shills, the worst of the worst.

  • Sergio

that’s the media for ya, lying like always. Are they trying to make bad cops look good regardless of their actions. How about the cop that chocked the black guy to death in Long Island ? goes to show you who’s the real bad guy.Filming cops is the way to go when they try to justify their actions.

  • Michael Lafond

I don’t give them a reason to mess with me. When I come in contact with them, I treat them how I want to be treated, yes sir/no sir. Guess what, I’m on my way in less than 5 minutes.

  • Michael Lafond

Majority of cops don’t mind being filmed. Sure some do, but majority of them don’t care.

  • Michael Lafond

Nope, I’m military and I’m not a military cop. I’m infantry.

  • Trep

O’Reilly just gave Cop Block national air time. Even though he thought it would do harm, it has done nothing but raise awareness for everyone that watched his show. People across the nation watched that and said, “Hmmm, Cop Block. Let me jump online and check it out.” So while O’Reilly used schoolyard name calling to belittle the general public, the general public learned a lesson about O’Reilly. Authoritarian doesn’t even begin to describe him. Good luck when you get pulled over buddy.

  • Darin Amory

    Godwin’s Law.

  • t

What is any ‘positive’ impact if “cop blocking”?

  • o0THX11380o

Is there a positive impact when parents keep an eye on their kids behavior?

  • t

No….not at all. I’ve said many times that the stated goal of this site is admirable. Unfortunately……what really takes place?
You CBers love the green laser the informs everyone about DUI checkpoints. That’s helping drunk drivers to continue to put others at serious risk of injury or death.
CBers love to confront officers while we are doing our jobs. That’s not accountability….that’s confrontation.

Ther….it took me less than 30 seconds to list out 2 very negative CBer behaviors. I’m still waiting for a positive impact.

  • drunkandstonedwhiledriving

Driving drunk is a right, not a privilege you can take away like that. Fascist asshole.

  • kraz

Yeah, and most if not all of these DUI checkpoints are used not so much to check for intoxicated drivers as they are to check for tail lights out, expired inspection stickers, etc. You know, anything that can make money for the department.
“CBers love to confront officers while we are doing our jobs.” No. Most do not want to confront officers but keep an eye on them from a distance. Confrontation from most only comes when they are seen doing something wrong, which unfortunately, is far too often.
Edit: Cops just hate not being able to get away with the shit they used to be able to and that’s the real reason cops hate being watched.

  • t

No. Those other types of violations……note that they are violations BTW…..are “fix it” tickets that get dismissed if you get them fixed. Oh….and most places (departments) don’t get any monies from ticket revenue. Now I know there are some jurisdictions that do…..but most don’t function that way.

  • ThirtyOneBravo

I never agree with O’Reilly – Except now. He was dead on for a change. The mission of this site is a good one. But those who are involved rarely, if ever, adhere to the mission. They create unnecessary situations, they’re confrontational, and they often hinder our jobs. As a police officer, I *WELCOME* those who wish to record their interaction with me or even record my interactions with someone else – at a distance far enough so as not to interfere.

  • state hater

So you don’t allow people whom you pull over to video you?

  • state hater

    Bullshit.

  • ThirtyOneBravo

I welcome it. I have absolutely nothing to worry about. Most of the time, the contents of the person’s video buttresses my actions.

  • nuts

only reinforces the need for what you’re doing ! ! cheers guys ! ! keep up the great work ! ! !

  • brothervizlani

I actually take exception to that pithy saying at the end, “If you have to enforce your ideas with violence your ideas are worthless”.

We had the idea that England was wrong and we could do a better job. That set of ideas was backed by violence. We found the Japanese and Nazis to be evil in their actions during WWII. We did not respond with kisses and hugs. We responded with violence to back up our ideas.

Violence is sometime necessary. Now I am a supporter of cop block and have started paying attention to what is happening in my community and even taping things myself.

Let’s stick to common sense. Police sometimes have to use violence to deal with violent criminals. If you do not see the sense in that statement then you are only going to damage the image of what cop block is truly trying to accomplish.

I literally shook my head at the sheer bullshit found in that one statement, “If you have to enforce your ideas with violence your ideas are worthless”.

Now I am off to drop a line to O’Reilly, urging him to invite members of cop block on his show…

  • charlie

these 2 idiots should be slaughtered.

  • Art Lowe

Billy boy is just another freedom hating moron, who supports a police state mentality, up yours Bill….

  • Woodstuck

How does this BS show even stay on the air? Because HE works for the government interests – This from a guy who can’t keep his mouth out of women around him, but cop block is bad? Get a real life Bill -

  • Woodstuck

Cops are the confrontational ones – We just want it on video to dismiss their lies and protect ourselves… Oh, I forgot “we don’t have any rights, they have them all” / sarcasm OFF
