Police Hiring Information
General Information

Southlake Police Officers perform a variety of duties in the enforcement of laws, the protection of persons and property and the prevention of crimes. They also perform specialized functions in their assigned areas of responsibility.

The Southlake Department of Public Safety has joined with the Police Departments of Colleyville, Euless, Keller, Hurst and North Richland Hills in the Police Agency Combined Testing (PACT) program. Interested applicants who participate in the PACT testing process have the opportunity to test with all six agencies during the event. All preliminary testing and screening is administered twice per year, once in the spring and again in the fall.

City of Southlake Minimum Requirements

The below requirements must be met to be considered for employment with the City of Southlake.
  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's license at time of hire.
  • Must be licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
  • If you are not currently licensed, you may be considered for a Police Recruit position.  In order to be considered for a police recruit, you must have completed 60 hours of college and/or Associate's Degree. College hours may be waived if appropriate military experience will allow for an abbreviated police academy.
  • Must have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings to include:  an extensive background investigation, a polygraph, psychological exam, physical and drug screen.

City of Southlake Pay & Benefits

Police Recruit: $41,110 per year + benefits.
Police Officer:  $50,935 per year + benefits.

How to Apply

All applicants must successfully complete the PACT testing program consisting of a physical agility test and a written examination. The City of Southlake will utilize the current PACT list when a vacancy becomes available. The PACT eligibility list is valid for six months from the written exam date or until the list is exhausted. Post Test

All applicants will be notified of the test results immediately following PACT test completion. Applicants who successfully complete both the physical assessment and written examination of the PACT test should be prepared to provide the following information:
  • Proof of all certificates;
  • Completion of the Personal History Statement (PHS); and
  • A listing of the agency or agencies you are interested in interviewing with should an opening become available.

Applicants who do not pass one of the required tests are welcome to re-test on the next available test date.
