The Marq - Southlake

It has been 18 years in the making, but the development of a community recreation center for Southlake is underway. The Marq will be located in the southwest corner of Bicentennial Park off Shady Oaks Drive, and will be constructed in two phases.

Construction has started for Phase 1 and is expected to be completed in late 2015. The City of Southlake has commissioned Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture to design Phase 1 and Adolphson and Peterson Construction to build Phase 1 of The Marq.

Phase 1, already 100% funded, will be approximately 23, 367 sq. ft. and include an events hall, multipurpose conference & meeting spaces, a club lounge, catering kitchen, senior center, an outdoor amphitheater and events space.

If approved, Phase 2 will be approximately 84,000 sq. ft. and include spaces for fitness, performance training, gymnasium, indoor jog/walk track, indoor aquatics, indoor playground, party rooms, early learning classroom, child watch and multipurpose classrooms for programs.

In order for Phase 2 to be built, an election is required. The election, which is tentatively scheduled for May 2015, will ask Southlake voters to consider re-purposing an existing sales tax revenue source to construct and offset a portion of the facility's operating costs. If approved, the City will partner with Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture and Adolphson and Peterson Construction to complete Phase 2 of the project which would be expected to begin construction in the Fall of 2016.
