Jerry Jones: Dallas Cowboys win in London was one of Tony Romo’s best games ever

ARLINGTON — Now that the victory is in the books, Jerry Jones can acknowledge that he was a little nervous when Tony Romo was on the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 31-17 win in London.

Romo was still on the field with under nine minutes to play and the Cowboys ahead 31-9.

“Back in very good shape despite him staying in too long,” the Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager joked Tuesday. “We can all say that now that we can laugh about it. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in [Jason Garrett’s] shoes to make that decision, OK? Because I wasn’t ready to call it our win yet either.

“If we’re going to win it, then let’s don’t risk him anymore. Yes, anybody would like to have that one to make, wouldn’t we? I’m behind [him] on his decision-making of that nature. And I agree with them. We didn’t need to leave London without that win.”

All joking aside, Jones called Romo’s 246-yard, three-touchdown performance “one of his best games ever.” Romo completed 20 of 27 passes and posted a 138.8 passer rating.

Asked about Romo’s health, Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones said he didn’t suffer any setbacks while in London.

Garrett said Romo came out of the game “fairly clean,“ and later added that Romo “seems like he’s in good shape” heading into the team’s bye week.
