Dallas police ask for public’s help after a 26-year-old woman was found strangled in vacant lot

Five days after her 26th birthday, Amber Anderson was found dead in a vacant lot in South Dallas. And Dallas police hope someone knows who killed her.

According to the police department, Anderson was found in an empty lot along the 3200 block of Holmes Street around 9:40 a.m. Sunday morning. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy, and determined on Monday that she’d been strangled.

Dallas police also confirm what Dallas County records show: Anderson has an extensive criminal background from 2011 until this year that includes arrests for prostitution, possession of a controlled substance, giving police a phony ID, and multiple incidents of criminal trespassing. In each case she pleaded guilty.

Homicide detectives ask anyone with information concerning Anderson’s homicide to call 214-671-3661. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477).
