Fort Worth police have arrested a suspect in a fatal stabbing late Thursday outside Ridgmar Mall.

Jose Carreon was taken into custody Friday afternoon at a local restaurant by Fort Worth officers, police said. The arrest came about an hour after police circulated a picture of the suspect and the license plate number of the Honda Accord he was believed to be driving.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found around 8:30 p.m. with stab wounds inside the mall. Police said the man was stabbed near his car, and then he went inside the mall. He was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, but later died of his injuries.

“It was not a random act of violence that occurred at the mall,” said Fort Worth police Cpl. Tracey Knight during a press conference Friday. “The suspect waited for the victim.”

Police said they believe Carreon disabled the man’s car and waited for him outside the mall.
