Updated at 9:14 a.m. Friday, by Naheed Rajwani: The man killed in Thursday’s shooting was identified by police as Kevin Michael Murray, 36, of Plano.

Police said Murray and one of his coworkers, Alireza Nikmanesh of Dallas, began arguing outside the Subway restaurant on Custer Road about 6:20 p.m.

During the argument, Nikmanesh took a handgun out of his car and shot Murray several times, police said.

An off-duty fire captain saw Murray and began CPR until paramedics arrived and took him to a nearby hospital, where he died.

Nikmanesh, 41, was at the scene when police arrived and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

He is being held in the Collin County Detention Center.

Plano police spokesman David Tilley said detectives were still investigating what Nikmanesh and Murray had reportedly been arguing about. The altercation, however, did not appear to be related to the Subway restaurant or the shopping center, Tilley said.

Police said there was an altercation between two men who knew each other outside the restaurant in the 3100 block of Custer Road, near the intersection with West Parker Road, about 6:20 p.m., said police spokesman Officer David Tilley.

One man pulled out a gun and shot the other man multiple times. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, Tilley said.

Police found the suspect waiting around the scene and took him into custody, Tilley said. Police had no IDs or motive Thursday night.

Businesses in the area are open, but no one will be allowed into the businesses on either side of the Subway until after the crime scene has been cleared.
