Mesquite man taken into custody after barricading himself in house

Ronnie Pryor

A Mesquite man trying to avoid being served a warrant barricaded himself in a house for several hours Thursday.

About 2:20 p.m., police and U.S. Marshals went to the 120 block of Brunswick Lane, near Scyene Road and Military Parkway, to serve 26-year-old Ronnie Pryor an aggravated robbery warrant. Pryor, who was standing on the porch when officers arrived, ran into the house, police said.

After several attempts by police negotiators to coax Pryor out of the house, tactical officers deployed gas into the home about 7 p.m. Pryor then started communicating with officers and he was taken into custody.

Pryor has been booked into the Mesquite jail. He faces charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and one count of aggravated robbery, both from warrants. He also has several outstanding warrants from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

He was transferred to the Dallas County jail Thursday night. Bail has been set at $50,000.
