The million-dollar-plus housing market, less than 1 percent of the San Antonio-area home sales, is on the rise.

The most recent data reported by the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR) says that several elements of the overall housing market are up over last year, among them time on market, which is down 14 percent from last year, and average sales price, which is up 6 percent over last year.

But average sales prices don't mean much to those dealing in the luxury market, according to Jason Glast with San Antonio Portfolio Real Estate. Glast said luxury realtors and buyers are more concerned with the prices of the highest end homes.

Glast compiled sales data from the SABOR multiple listing service (MLS) and looked for the number of million-dollar (or higher) sales in the last 10 years. In order to make Glast's list of the top  luxury neighborhoods, an area had to have at least 5 sales to make the cut.

So we took Glast's data and ranked our neighborhoods according to the number of million-dollar homes sold in the last 10 years.

Included in each neighborhood ranking is an average sales price in the last 12 months to provide an alternative context to the number of sales.
