Three Central Texas schools will be closed on Thursday over health concerns surrounding two students who traveled on a Monday flight with Ebola patient Amber Vinson.

Belton Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon issued a statement Wednesday explaining the situation to parents.

"Late tonight I learned that officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are re-evaluating the health risk to some passengers on Frontier Airlines Flight #1143 from Cleveland to Dallas. At this time, we do not know if this will include either of the two Belton ISD students who traveled on the flight."

Kincannon said the three campuses — North Belton Middle School and Sparta Elementary, where the two students attended, and a third preschool — will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, along with buses.

"It will also allow health officials additional time to re-assess the health risk to passengers on the plane," Kincannon said in the statement "The health and safety of our students is my first priority."

The two students who were on the plane will also be staying at home for the next three weeks where their health will be monitored on a daily basis.

In North Texas, the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District said Wednesday night that a family member of a Lake Pointe Elementary School student was aboard Flight 1143 on Monday along with Vinson.

"As a precautionary measure, the family will be isolated for 21 days," the EMS ISD statement said.
