Overview of Fire Department Welcome to the Southlake Fire Department. The department's mission is to serve and protect the citizens of Southlake and to provide life-saving fire safety educational programs to the public. Currently, we have 55 men and women who make up the Fire Services.

History
The first official Fire Department was established in Southlake in 1966.  It was created by the previous all-volunteer fire department who began organizing  in 1965 by creating by-laws and choosing officers.  In 1991, the city combined both Fire and Police Services under one department known as the Department of Public Safety.

Stations
The Fire Department operates out of three stations. The DPS West Station (Station 2) is located at 2100 West Southlake Boulevard, DPS Headquarters (Station 1) is located at 600 State Street and DPS North (Station 3) is located at 100 East Dove Road.

Accreditation
The Fire Department holds accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).  As citizens, you can be proud to have an agency dedicated to the safety and protection of your community.


ISO (Insurance) Rating

As of September 1, 2014 Southlake businesses and residents will begin reaping the benefits of the Fire Departments exceptionally high score and rating they officially received from the Insurance Service Office (ISO) and the State Fire Marshal’s office. The Southlake Fire Department jumped from a "Class 4 to a Class 1" - the highest rating possible following a comprehensive audit and evaluation.  The ranking is based on a nationwide classification system that reflects the community's fire protection capability for property insurance rating purposes.  This means Southlake residents could see a savings on their insurance premiums of 11% and 13% for Southlake businesses.
