Welcome to the Planning & Development Services Department
The Planning and Development Services Department offers professional advice and technical expertise on development related topics. Specifically, the department provides development services including zoning, platting, land use, tree preservation, building permits, sign permits, inspections and code enforcement. The department also provides mapping services and develops the city's comprehensive plan, the Southlake 2030 Plan. The department is comprised of the following four divisions:

• Planning,
• Building Inspections,
• Code Enforcement, and
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Mission Statement
The Planning & Development Services Department will promote rational, economical and environmentally efficient use of land, to allow Southlake to grow in a manner consistent with adopted ordinances and the goals of the community; provide support and advice to elected officials and boards, residents, city departments, neighborhood groups, and developers; ensure protection of the natural environment and the City of Southlake's critical and unique natural resources; ensure buildings and structures are safe; and promote a healthy and safe community via code enforcement, inspections of buildings, plan reviews and the provision of facilities such as sidewalks & trails.
