The Giants expect to have running back Rashad Jennings back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the 49ers after playing without him for the last four games.
Coincidence or not, the Giants lost all four of those games by at least 10 points to take their record from an encouraging 3-2 to a dispiriting 3-6. Jennings practiced again on Thursday and his knee has shown no signs of needing further time on the sideline, although coach Tom Coughlin said Thursday that the team doesn’t want to give him too much to do too soon.
“I don’t intend for him to carry a full load,” Coughlin said, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Coughlin’s plans could change if Jennings is effective early against the Niners. He sent a similar message last season when Andre Brown was returning from a broken leg and then oversaw a game plan that called for Brown to get 30 carries in a victory over the Raiders. Given the state of the running game and the results of the last few weeks, it wouldn’t be a shock if lightning struck twice.
Jennings better get most of the carries…
Andre Williams can’t get out of his own way. And Hillis (concussion) and Cox (leg) are out.
Giants need him. He’ll rush for over 100 yards and score a TD. He makes them much better.
Giants lose 5 straight and drop to 3-7, losing the tiebreaker with Redskins for last place…congrats
Giants beat the Redskins, so how do they lose the tie breaker?
