Bastille on Bishop 2014

The fifth annual Bastille on Bishop kicks off on Monday, July 14th, from 6pm to 10pm in the historic Bishop Arts District (400 and 500 block of Bishop Street between Seventh and Melba). The biggest and frenchiest Bastille Day party in town, this is one celebration you won’t want to miss. Local restaurants and markets will be out serving up French inspired cuisine including crepes, beignets, macarons, ratatouille, frites and more. The much loved mussels competition is back this year!

bastillestreet1We have an all-star line up of chefs including Chef DAT, Kyle McClelland of Driftwood and Proof+Pantry, Chad Houser of CafĂ© Momentum, Mike Gibson and Justin Holt of Lucia, Estevan Galindo of Hattie’s, and Eric Spigner of Nova. It wouldn’t be a French street festival without wine so we’ll be serving up a rouge, blanc, and rose from the Rhone region of France. If you plan on enjoying one (or more) of these incredible wines, you’ll need to purchase a glass at the front gate or pre-order online to beat the crowds (we sell out every year!). Reserve your glass here and pick it up at Will Call at 7th and Bishop on Bastille Day. Your “ticket”, whether purchased online or in person, includes your glass and two tokens to be used for either wine or food. All wine and food at the festival must be purchased using tokens. Additional tokens can be purchased in advance through Prekindle or on site.

AccordianEver wondered what Bishop Street would look like covered with four tons of decomposed granite? We cart it in every year to turn a section of Bishop Street into our very own petanque court. The Oak Cliff Bicycle Company will have Goldsprints set up at the corner of Bishop and 8th so you can test your pedaling power. Enjoy all of this while listening to music from Matt Tolentino, Dave Burris, Stephanie Pepping and Kathryn Hacket or while watching the avant garde Danielle Georgiou Dance Group or a can can dance by Ruby Review. At 7pm, the Vespa scooter rally will roll into the party. For any fellow scooterers wishing to join in the fun, the group will be meeting at the Dubliner on Greenville at 6:30pm before motoring down to Oak Cliff. And if all of THAT isn’t enough, we’ll also have a caricature artist and photo booth on hand.

dancegroupEnjoy the festivities like a local and bike over to the event! Parking is limited so it’s the perfect time to try out the D-Link or hop in a Spokes pedicab.
