What can planners at the state, regional and national levels do to prepare for drought? This webinar focuses on techniques for mitigation and adaptation to drought through collaboration among planners, water engineers, water consumers and natural resource experts. Speakers include John W. Balay, manager of the Planning and Operations Program at the Susquehanna River Basin Commission; Debbie Davis-Franco, the community and rural affairs adviser and local drought liaison in the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research in California; and Taryn Finnessey, who works on climate change adaptation and natural hazard risk management for the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Participants will learn from speakers about adopted drought plans, key elements of mitigation and adaptation and about how collaboration and intergovernmental coordination is essential for successful resilience efforts.
