Leslie Brenner RecommendsCoddling service, superb steaks (especially the grass-fed cuts often offered as specials) and outstanding prime rib make Al Biernat’s one of the best steakhouses in Dallas. Don’t see a wine that appeals on the list? Ask for the wine specials -- which often come with bargain price tags. This clubby Oak Lawn dining room with an Old World feel and coddling service is the place for magnificent steaks and chops. Start with a well-made Caesar or Al’s salad (a deluxe seafood extravaganza), and continue with one of the best cowboy rib-eyes in town, a mammoth portion of prime rib or a spectacular Niman Ranch dry-aged New York strip. Double-cut Colorado lamb chops are terrific, too. More involved dishes sometimes disappoint. Full bar. Leslie Brenner/Guide |
