This is really interesting because usually people want to dig and find all the old artifacts they can find but this guy wants to keep it left in the ground. i think we should try to find the old articfacts so we can preserve them and study them so we can learn more about older times and more about history of our previous civilzations, but i think we should handle the artifacts with care and not break them and then glue them back together. I did think it was cool tho that he wanted to keep the artifacts in the ground and actually stole it back and placed back in the ground

Great story, what made it even better was the animation that went right along with each action in the story. It really brought it all to life. I didn't like how he brought the pot to a different location and stashed it there. Because most of the value of things is in the context and the story, moving the pot took the context away. In the end the pot will certainly be better off where it is now than in some display case with no context even though many will not know the true story of the piece.

When Craig talks about the archeologist and the people with shovels, it reminds me of the scene from Lawrence of Arabia with Anthony Quinn and the British officer. Is there any logic to who owns, what?

When I saw the graphic, I had hoped that they had hired Randall Munroe, of xkcd fame. He does a brilliant math/science/computer science webcomic that is very appropriate to RadioLab. (Check it out!) I was further disappointed when I saw that Reich didn't try to donate the pot to whatever tribe is the closest descendant of the original owners. While putting the pot back in the wilderness is artistic and all, is that better than giving it to a group who would cherish it and honor those who made it?

Is Henry Reich related to Robert Reich? I see a lot of similarity in the hand-drawn animation style.

I didn't realize that Craig in the episode "Things," was the writer Craig Childs 'til the very end of the radio show! He is a great nature writer and Henry Reich did a great job animating this anecdote. If you haven't read any of Craig Childs' books, check out The Secret Knowledge of Water or The Animal Dialogues.

Entertaining story! For some reason, I get a kick out of the fact that the artist uses a washable black Crayola magic marker - the kind my kids use!!!

Minute Physics is actually pretty damn interesting as a Youtube channel. One of my favorites actually.. So is Radiolab as well. I really hope they collaborate more as they are both very creative in their own right. In fact, I would go as far as to say that Henry Reich would probably fit right in at Radiolab so I'm eager to see more collaborations between them. They both have very off beat styles.

That was an interesting story, made more enjoyable by watching the hand drawn pictures. I especially liked how he was able to draw a picture to match an action he was describing (people looting, keeping an eye on the room). Really fun to watch.
