Certain flavors just seem to go with fall weather, and one of the most classic is the flavor of pumpkin. There's no need to stop with pumpkin pie, either. There are pumpkin liqueurs, such as Hiram Walker's Pumpkin Spice, or use a bit of the real thing in these delicious pumpkin cocktails.
Pumpkin French 75
The original French 75 was created during World War I. This version also packs a wallop, but has a delicious hint of fall.
- 1 oz. Plymouth Gin
- 1 oz. pumpkin puree
- 1 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 1 1/2 oz. simple syrup
- Chilled champagne or sparkling wine
Combine the gin, pumpkin, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice, and shake briskly until combined. Strain into a chilled champagne flute, and top off with champagne.
Pumpkin Divine
This cocktail is double the fall fun, combining the delicious smoothness of a pear-flavored vodka with the flavor of pumpkin.
- 1 part Grey Goose La Poire vodka
- 1 part pumpkin butter
- 1/2 part triple sec
- 1/2 part simple syrup
- Pinch of pumpkin pie spice
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled, and strain into a cocktail glass. Serve garnished with grated nutmeg.
