APD: No Danger To Public After Three Homicides In Three Days

Updated: Wednesday, October 29 2014, 06:28 AM CDT
On Wednesday morning, Austin homicide detectives are looking for the shooter responsible for killing a woman at an apartment complex near Manor Road. Her death marks the twentieth homicide of 2014 and the third in the last three days. Police insist they are not connected and the public is safe.

A shots fired call brought police to the Westheimer Oaks Apartments around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday. When they got to the complex, they found a woman in her late 40s shot dead on the property outside.

Police believe the shooter and the victim knew each other.

They don't know who they're looking for but say one big step is identifying the victim.
"Once you ID the victim, if her car's out there, they can get some information from that, see who she's dating, boyfriend, girlfriend, see if they have any family in the area, talk to them," said Det. Craig Smith of the Austin Police Department.

Homicide detectives are talking to several witnesses from this latest shooting, trying to narrow down a suspect. Anyone who saw or heard anything can call APD's Homicide Tip Line at 512-974-5210.

The week started off with a murder in Southeast Austin at El Agazajo Bar and Grill. Police are still looking for a black four-door Nissan that had two people inside. Family members say the victim is Richard Escalante, 28, a security guard.

Then Monday, witnesses say an argument outside a convenience store near Georgian Drive and Powell Lane in North Austin led to a stabbing and shooting. Damian Falcon died and two others were injured.

Police are reviewing security video from the store to try to piece together what happened.APD: No Danger To Public After Three Homicides In Three Days
