Costco Isn’t Clean
Costco hasn't signed the Golden Rules.
Why isn't Costco supporting clean gold?
We don't know. We assume it isn't because they don't care about working conditions in the mines or cyanide spills poisoning communities' drinking water. Costco, which made $1.3 billion in profits in 2010, is one of only two of the top 10 US jewelry retailers that hasn't signed the Golden Rules for more responsible gold and precious metals sourcing.
Over 90 leading jewelry retailers have left Costco behind by signing the Golden Rules for responsible metals sourcing. These industry leaders have pledged to shun gold from irresponsible mining and seek cleaner sources of gold and precious metals.
But, with your help, we can get Costco to stop lagging behind the leaders of responsible gold sourcing.
