Celtics' Rajon Rondo: 'I love being a Celtic'
Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo addressed his future with the franchise once again on Wednesday. Before Boston's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, his former teammate, Kendrick Perkins, told a huge scrum that he thinks Rondo should stay and he thinks Rondo wants to stay. Rondo, who will be a free agent in the summer reiterated that he would like to do just that, via CSNNE:
"Regardless of what's going on with the season, my position hasn't changed," Rondo said on Wednesday. "I love being a Celtic."
This is a story because it's Rondo talking about the Celtics, but it's not really a story. He said it even more strongly on media day in September, and he's spoken positively about Boston for a long, long time. What happens with him is not just going to be about the city -- he can be completely genuine about this, but still want the front office to improve the roster so he can compete for championships again. The variables of the trade and free-agency markets matter here, too. I'm sure we'll revisit this another 30 times.
