University of Texas at Austin President Responds to Appeals Court Ruling in Fisher Case

AUSTIN, Texas — Following is a statement from University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers regarding today’s court ruling in the case of Fisher versus University of Texas, in which the full U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals declined to rehear the case. The case relates to the use of ethnicity as one factor in determining college admissions.

"We are pleased with the ruling of the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The University of Texas at Austin is committed to maintaining a student body that provides the educational benefits of diversity while respecting the rights of all students.
