This post is part of CleanTechnica’s series on Midwest Cleantech Open winners.

Igor, a strong entry in the power-over-internet lighting arena from the Des Moines, Iowa metro, came into the Midwest CTO in a very strong position with its intelligent wireless LED system. Just two weeks earlier, the company had completed a $2.5 million Series A round of funding led by Iowa’s Next Level Ventures.

As we also saw at the CTO, 75F provides innovative software control over building temperature. Igor enables intelligent lighting control: turnkey management, control, and monitoring power-over-ethernet technology for building illumination. The entire Igor intelligent wireless LED system is easier and more economical to install than traditional lighting because it is powered and controlled over standard Ethernet connections. Because Igor devices use plug-and-play and modular connectors and do not require high-voltage wiring, setup is more efficient and cost-effective.

Igor, an elegant intelligent wireless LED system (Igor)We know that LED lighting systems are already 60% more energy-efficient than fluorescent or incandescent lighting. Igor pushes the envelope with intelligent wireless LED: smart automation and scheduling and motion and occupancy sensors that provide lighting and turn it off when needed. All fixtures can be programmed to set schedules and adjusted on a granular level, and of course they adjust automatically to make the best use of available sunlight.

Igor intelligent wireless LED display (Igor)Customers can enable LED light fixtures of all types, motion sensors, daylight sensors, and more to run with this intelligent wireless LED technology. A user can assign attached devices through the application interface and create virtual spaces that contain sets of devices. The Igor platform also simplifies facility management and maintenance through monitoring and feedback. Existing IT staff usually appreciate the advantages, and the organization needs no additional experts.

Dwight Stewart, Founder and CEO of Igor (great name!), says:

“As federal regulations continue to limit fluorescent lighting and building owners become more energy conscious, the market for a low-cost, flexible, and smart lighting solution is enormous.”

Stewart feels that his intelligent wireless LED company has a huge opportunity before it and a strong pipeline of customers. He also has the coolest business card I’ve ever seen.

the statement 60 percent more efficient than florescent or incandescence is incorrect. Looks like florescent and led are about 4 times better than incandescence. led is slightly better than florescent but is dimmable, instant on/off, and last something like 4 times longer, and also doesn’t contain any lead.
