    Jury duty phone scam targets elderly Video included

    Elderly Jefferson County residents are being targeted in the latest scam to hit our area.

    The scam involves jury duty and callers posing as sheriff deputies telling potential victims they failed to show up for jury duty and are now facing fines.

    Ready or not, the coldest air of the season is coming to Southeast Texas.  Remember the 4 P's tonight.  Keep your pets warm, take in or cover your plants, and make sure to look out for those without proper heating.  Temperatures will be dropping into the 20's during the night. That may be long enough to cause possibly damage some exposed piping, especially if you live north of I-10.

    District attorney investigates possible misuse of taxpayer dollars in Port Arthur Video included

    Jefferson County District Attorney Cory Crenshaw confirms his office has launched an investigation involving the city of Port Arthur and its financial matters. Sources close to the investigation tell 12News authorities are probing possible misuse of public funds. Port Arthur police chief said that no council members nor current city employees are the target of the district attorney's investigation.

    Police pursue arrest in stabbing incident

    Beaumont Police investigated a stabbing incident Monday night in the Avenues section of town.A dispatch supervisor told 12 News a 29 year old male victim sustained several stab wounds to the chest and other parts of the body. That man was rushed to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.The stabbing occurred at Avenue A and Harriot Street in Beaumont. Police did not report making immediate arrests in the stabbing.

    Port Arthur public library to debut wallpaper promoting digital media offerings

    Southeast Texans will soon have an even easier way to borrow electronic books, free of charge through the Port Arthur public library. The library's digital collection is getting its own shelf: made out of vinyl."Drama, suspense, science fiction, you know all the grim stories, I like that too," said Port Arthur resident, Alex Kalinchuk.Book lovers like Kalinchuk often use electronic devices as a way to sneak in a few minutes of reading throughout the day.

    Lufkin Kickoff Forecast Thursday Evening

    It's really going to be cold Thursday Evening in Lufkin if you are headed to the playoffs.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to middle 30's by the end of the game with wind chills in the upper 20's.  Bundle up!!!

    18-Wheeler overturns on I-10 in Orange County

    The driver of an 18-wheeler was cited for failure to drive in a single lane following an accident on Interstate 10 in Orange County that injured four people.

    The accident happened around 9 a.m. near the Womack Road exit.

    Family and friends pay tribute to first female Southeast Texas soldier killed in Iraq Video included

    Patriotic music filled the cold air at Vidor's Del Rose Cemetery where Kamisha Block is buried.

    Family and friends held the vigil on Veteran's Day for the young soldier who never lived to become a veteran.

    Activists call for more body cameras on Port Arthur Police officers

    Police agencies nationwide are putting cameras on the uniforms of officers that help tell what happens during traffic stops, police interventions, and other incidents. Now, a group called PRO-ACT asking the Port Arthur city council for action that could eventually lead to more police body cams. Cuevas Peacock is an activist with the group PRO-ACT that says every Port Arthur police officer should be outfitted with a body camera.

    One dead following head-on collision in Port Arthur

    Port Arthur police officers are investigating a head-on collision that left one person dead. 

    The accident happened about 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 2500 block of West F.M. 365. 

    DPS investigates Orange County head-on collision

     The Department of Public Safety is investigating a head-on collision that happened around 8 p.m. Monday on Highway 62 in Orange County.

    Trooper Stephanie Davis said the accident happened on Highway 62 at Walea Road in Orange county. 

    Walk Like MADD honors victims of DUI crashes Video included

    One step at a time, walkers fight drinking and driving at the annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving, “Walk Like MADD” 5K.

    Over 400 Southeast Texans participated Saturday, surpassing the group's fundraising goal of $25,000.
