TEXAS MONTHLY OIL AND GAS STATISTICS
AUGUST PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,606 original drilling permits in August 2013 compared to 2,048 in August 2012. The August total included 1,438 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 27 to re-enter existing well bores, and 141 for re-completions. Permits issued in August 2013 included 501 oil, 92 gas, 968 oil and gas, 31 injection, three service and 11 other permits.
JULY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary July 2013 crude oil production averaged 1,685,786 barrels daily, up from the 1,300,694 barrels daily average of July 2012.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for July 2013 is 52,259,355 barrels, up from 40,321,511 barrels reported during July 2012.
AUGUST OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In August 2013, operators reported 1,576 oil, 500 gas, 18 injection and three other completions compared to 967 oil, 230 gas, 34 injection and one other completion in August 2012.
Total well completions for 2013 year to date are 17,221 up from 9,965 recorded during the same period in 2012.
Operators reported 120 holes plugged and zero dry holes in August 2013 compared to 828 holes plugged and five dry holes in August 2012.
JULY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 571,285,336 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for July 2013 up from the July 2012 preliminary gas production total of 533,864,038 Mcf. Texas preliminary July total gas production averaged 18,428,559 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in July 2013 came from 155,654 oil wells and 91,757 gas wells.
