Pete Carroll says the Seahawks have no interest in Randy Moss
Last week, 37-year-old Randy Moss said he'd consider coming out of retirement to play with Peyton Manning. Moss, who played for 14 seasons (the last in 2012 with the 49ers), also confirmed a report from FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer that the Seahawks had reached out to him.
On Wednesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was asked about the team's interest in Moss.
“Thanks for asking that," he said, via PFT. "That never happened. That never happened. Nobody asked that question, and, you know, that's never happened. ... “I won't say that I didn't get a call from T.O., though.”
That would be Terrell Owens, 40, who spent the 2012 preseason with the Seahawks before he was released. Owens' last regular-season appearance came in 2010 with the Bengals, when he played in 14 games and had 72 receptions for 983 yards and 9 touchdowns.
We talked about the Seahawks' passing-game issues on the latest Eye on Football Podcast (embedded above). One of the reasons Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has struggled this season (and a reason that's seldom mentioned): Lack of depth at wide receiver. Golden Tate is gone, Zach Miller is on injured reserve and there isn't a true No. 1 among Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and Ricardo Lockette. While neither Moss nor Owens offer a solution to this problem, it is one that needs to be addressed.
