Best Buy shoppers are already in line waiting for Black Friday

Camped out in front of a Best Buy location in Beaumont, California since November 5, Juanita Salas of Beaumont and Vickey Torres of Cabazon have spent the last week sitting in front of the retail electronics store in hopes of landing some excellent doorbuster deals by the time Thanksgiving arrives in a couple weeks. Detailed by the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, this is something of an annual event for the two ladies. This year, both ladies are hoping to land a heavily discounted price on a HDTV.

When asked why they were already in line, Torres saidWe could have started later, but then we wouldn’t be sure to get first in line. They only get a few items at the cheaper prices and it’s first come, first served.” In order to hold the first position in line, the two women have been trading off holding the number one spot when one of them needs to go home, shower, use the restroom or grab some food.

Regarding their quest for new HDTVs, they just may be in luck. The top doorbuster deal in Best Buy’s Black Friday flyer is a 50-inch, 1080p Panasonic LED HDTV for a low price of $199. While the television is only 60Hz and lacks smart features as well as 3D playback, the fact that the set is a reputable brand-name and rated favorably by the Best Buy community bodes well for the retailer this year.

Interestingly, Best Buy is also attempting aggressive pricing on the opposite end of the spectrum, a Samsung Ultra HD television set. Shattering through Vizio’s aggressive price of $1000 for a Ultra HD set, Samsung’s UN55HU6950FXZA 55-inch 4K Ultra HD set will be priced at $899 when the doors open up on Thanksgiving evening.
