CBIZ to close Miami office

Accounting and consulting firm CBIZ announced plans to close its Miami office, although some of its employees will be joining another local firm.
The Cleveland-based company (NYSE: CBZ) said a small number of its Miami staff would be relocated to its larger Boca Raton office and the other CBIZ employees will join Cherry Bekaert LLP's Coral Gables office. The news comes a week after CBIZ acquired an insurance agency in Delray Beach.
In a news release, CBIZ Chairman and CEO Steven L. Gerard said his firm could eventually re-enter Miami. "The relatively small size of our Miami accounting office did not provide us with sufficient scale to provide our expected array and level of professional services to our clients in the Miami market," Gerard said. CBIZ didn't say how many employees were impacted by the move.
CBIZ Kirkland Russ Murphy & Tapp and Mayer Hoffman McCann PC has a Clearwater office.
