Florida SunPass customers will now be able to use their passes on toll roads in Georgia and North Carolina.
The three states announced Wednesday that their electronic tolling systems are now interoperable. SunPass transponders will work on Georgia's Interstate 85 Express Lanes in Atlanta and North Carolina's Triangle Expressway located in the Research Triangle Park Region of the state, the Florida Department of Transportation said in a statement. All roads in Florida that accept the SunPass will now accept Georgia's Peach Pass and NC Quick Pass transponders.
The new agreement also works for Florida customers who use E-PASS or LeeWay to pay tolls, FDOT said in a statement.
"The agreement between Florida and Georgia will make road trips between our neighboring states much easier for millions of travelers," said Florida's Turnpike Enterprise Executive Director Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti.
Toll roads in Florida and North Carolina became interoperable in July 2013 and Georgia just joined the group, FDOT said.
