More fans of AMC's popular series "The Walking Dead" are traveling to Atlanta and small towns in Georgia to see filming locations up close.

On a recent Sunday, two "Big Zombie" bus tours attracted mostly out-of-state visitors with fans from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Washington and places across the Southeast, plus a fan from Brazil on a month-long American tour, reports CNN. Many planned their visit to Atlanta especially to see "The Walking Dead" locations, the network says.

Some fans are more likely to recognize filming locations than some of the state's better-known attractions, CNN adds.

The "Big Zombie" tours ($65), operated by Atlanta Movie Tours, were started in 2012 with a single "Walking Dead"-themed tour. The company now offers more tours and recently welcomed guest No. 10,000, the network reports.

The series is one of a growing number of projects filming in Georgia. More than 150 film and TV productions were shot in Georgia in fiscal year 2014, according to the Georgia film office. In 2013, the state launched ComeTourGeorgia.com, aimed at entertainment fans, CNN adds.
